        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           FEBRUARY 9, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Expressing profound sorrow for the death of Chief Warrant
     2     Officer John Richard Priestner, 42, who tragically died in
     3     the line of duty on November 6, 2006, while serving in Iraq.

     4     WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer John Richard Priestner died
     5  tragically on November 6, 2006, in Balad, Iraq, of injuries
     6  suffered when his AH-64 Apache helicopter was destroyed; and
     7     WHEREAS, Chief Priestner, who served for two years in the Air
     8  Force in the late 1980s, enlisted in the Army Reserve and served
     9  in Operation Desert Storm in 1991, in Afghanistan from November


     1  2002 through August 2003 and in Iraq from July 22, 2006, until
     2  his death; and
     3     WHEREAS, Chief Priestner's service decorations include the
     4  Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation
     5  Medal, three Air Medals and the Master Army Aviator Badge; and
     6     WHEREAS, While in Iraq, Chief Priestner was assigned to Alpha
     7  Company, 1st Battalion, 82nd Attack Reconnaissance Battalion,
     8  based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and
     9     WHEREAS, A native of LeRaysville, Pike County, Chief
    10  Priestner graduated from Northeast Bradford High School in 1982,
    11  and attended Keystone College and in 1988 married Teresa Lutz,
    12  also a native of northern Pennsylvania; and
    13     WHEREAS, Chief Priestner is survived by his wife, Teresa; his
    14  daughters, Breanne and Megan; his parents, Linnea Priestner of
    15  North Charleston, South Carolina, and Richard Priestner, of
    16  LeRaysville; his twin brother, Roger; and his sister, Susan;
    17  therefore be it
    18     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express profound
    19  sorrow for the death of Chief Warrant Officer John Richard
    20  Priestner, 42, who tragically died in the line of duty on
    21  November 6, 2006, while serving in Iraq.
