        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           FEBRUARY 9, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Pennsylvania
     2     Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs and encouraging
     3     Pennsylvanians to learn more about and reflect upon the
     4     importance of this organization.

     5     WHEREAS, Established on February 11, 1932, the Pennsylvania
     6  Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs (PFSC) is one of the oldest and
     7  largest sporting organizations in this Commonwealth; and
     8     WHEREAS, The PFSC has expanded conservation efforts in this
     9  Commonwealth for the past 75 years; and
    10     WHEREAS, The PFSC works with the Pennsylvania Game
    11  Commission, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the
    12  Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Department


     1  of Environmental Resources and the General Assembly on behalf of
     2  conservation; and
     3     WHEREAS, The PFSC was a driving force behind The Clean
     4  Streams Law, which has protected Commonwealth waters and
     5  watersheds since 1937; and
     6     WHEREAS, The environmental devastation of strip mining to
     7  facilitate World War II operations prompted regulations which
     8  further implemented PFSC goals; and
     9     WHEREAS, The PFSC has played an important role in protecting
    10  and conserving game lands from the effects of waste disposal and
    11  waste storage; and
    12     WHEREAS, The PFSC's annual education and eligibility programs
    13  have advanced hunter safety in this Commonwealth; and
    14     WHEREAS, Since formation of the PFSC in 1932, Pennsylvanians
    15  have continued to demonstrate their appreciation for the
    16  environment by participating in outdoor sports and recreation;
    17  and
    18     WHEREAS, Currently the PFSC comprises approximately 100,000
    19  members who are instrumental in preserving Pennsylvania's
    20  cultural heritage relative to outdoor sports and recreation;
    21  therefore be it
    22     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
    23  75th anniversary of the PFSC and encourage Pennsylvanians to
    24  learn more about and reflect upon the importance of this
    25  organization.
