INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, FEBRUARY 7, 2007
A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of May 20 through 26, 2007, as "Emergency 2 Medical Services Week" and May 23, 2007, as "Emergency 3 Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day" in Pennsylvania. 4 WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) 5 supports emergency medical services (EMS) providers, the 6 community-based public servants whose presence is vital to 7 children in need; and 8 WHEREAS, The needs of children are different from the needs 9 of adults in medical emergencies; and 10 WHEREAS, EMSC promotes the high-level emergency care given by 11 EMS providers with pediatric emergency skills; and
1 WHEREAS, EMSC assists in training related to lifesaving 2 advanced technical equipment and services; and 3 WHEREAS, EMS providers are unceasingly prepared to respond to 4 children who access the system and return them to an optimum 5 level of health; and 6 WHEREAS, EMSC works with physicians, nurses, social workers, 7 psychologists, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, 8 firefighters, educators, administrators and others to identify 9 and address the issues surrounding the provision of optimal 10 pediatric care; and 11 WHEREAS, EMSC assists in the development of training programs 12 and guidelines for emergency care providers so that children 13 with special health care needs receive timely, appropriate care; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, It is proper and timely to bring recognition to the 16 value and accomplishments of the dedicated men and women of EMSC 17 by designating "Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) 18 Day" in Pennsylvania; therefore be it 19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate 20 "Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day" in 21 Pennsylvania; and be it further 22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 23 week of May 20 through 26, 2007, as "Emergency Medical Services 24 Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further 25 RESOLVED, That all communities be encouraged to observe these 26 events with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
