A RESOLUTION 1 Expressing deep and profound sorrow for the death of Sergeant 2 Brent Dunkleberger, who died December 12, 2006, while serving 3 with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade 4 Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, in Iraq. 5 WHEREAS, Sgt. Brent Dunkleberger was born November 8, 1977, 6 the son of Susan and William Dunkleberger of Elliottsburg, Perry 7 County, and was a 1996 graduate of West Perry High School, where 8 he was a friend to all; and 9 WHEREAS, After high school graduation, Sgt. Dunkleberger went
1 to work at Fry Publications in Mechanicsburg and began a family 2 with his wife, Lisa; and 3 WHEREAS, Sgt. Dunkleberger was also an active member of the 4 New Bloomfield, Perry County, Fire Company; and 5 WHEREAS, His desire to serve his country and help others led 6 to his enlistment in the United States Army in 2003, and he 7 reported for basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky; and 8 WHEREAS, Upon completion of basic training, he became a tank 9 driver and was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division, 4th Brigade 10 Combat Team, and was stationed in Texas at Fort Hood and Fort 11 Bliss; and 12 WHEREAS, Sgt. Dunkleberger's exemplary service during his 13 three-year enlistment is evidenced by the fact that he is the 14 recipient of the Army Commendation Medal as well as the National 15 Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary 16 Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Iraq Campaign 17 Medal; and 18 WHEREAS, On December 12, 2006, Sgt. Dunkleberger tragically 19 died from injuries sustained when a rocket-propelled grenade 20 struck his vehicle during a convoy security mission in Mosul; 21 and 22 WHEREAS, Sgt. Dunkleberger died while serving in his second 23 tour of duty in Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and 24 WHEREAS, Sgt. Dunkleberger is survived by his wife, Lisa, and 25 his four children: daughters Belinda, Kelli and Zoe, and son 26 Alexander; and 27 WHEREAS, Sgt. Dunkleberger is also survived by his parents, 28 sister Marcie Emlet, paternal grandmother Betty Dunkleberger, 29 maternal grandparents Virginia and William Turner, and a bereft 30 community of friends and acquaintances; therefore be it 20070H0055R0365 - 2 -
