INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JANUARY 29, 2007
A RESOLUTION 1 Declaring the week of January 28 through February 3, 2007, as 2 "Catholic Schools Week" in this Commonwealth. 3 WHEREAS, Catholic schools in this Commonwealth are 4 celebrating "Catholic Schools Week" from January 28 through 5 February 3, 2007; and 6 WHEREAS, Catholic elementary and secondary schools, educating 7 183,628 students annually, save State and local taxpayers more 8 than $1 billion each year; and 9 WHEREAS, Catholic schools instill in young people a strong 10 foundation of values, self-esteem, self-confidence and 11 leadership skills; and
1 WHEREAS, Catholic schools, in providing young people with 2 solid values and academic skills needed in becoming responsible 3 citizens of this Commonwealth and nation, have a dropout rate of 4 less than 3% and a postgraduate higher education enrollment rate 5 of 80%; therefore be it 6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives declare the week 7 of January 28 through February 3, 2007, as "Catholic Schools 8 Week" in this Commonwealth and express congratulations and 9 appreciation to Catholic elementary and secondary schools across 10 this Commonwealth on the occasion of "Catholic Schools Week" in 11 2007.
