A RESOLUTION
1 Congratulating the Borough of Mansfield on the 150th anniversary
2 of its incorporation.
3 WHEREAS, On November 28, 1856, the residents of the Village
4 of Mansfield petitioned the judges of the Court of Quarter
5 Sessions of Tioga County to request that the village be
6 incorporated as the Borough of Mansfield; and
7 WHEREAS, The petition laid out the metes and bounds of the
8 proposed Borough of Mansfield and contained the names of 57
9 residents; and
10 WHEREAS, The request for incorporation stated:
11 Your Petitioners therefore pray your Honors to give
12 the premises in charge to the Grand Inquest for said
1 County that such further order may be had thereon as
2 to your Honor shall seem most agreeable to the act of
3 Assembly in such case made and provide and they will
4 ever pray;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, The certification stated:
7 The Grand Inquest of Pennsylvania inquiring in and
8 for the County of Tioga certify that after a full
9 investigation of the facts in this case concerning
10 proposed Borough as above that the conditions of the
11 Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided have
12 been complied with and believe it is expedient to
13 grant the prayers of the petitioners;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, On February 13, 1857, an order of court established
16 the Borough of Mansfield; therefore be it
17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
18 Borough of Mansfield on the 150th anniversary of its
19 incorporation.
