                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the offense of
     3     aggravated assault.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 2702(d) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a definition to read:
     8  § 2702.  Aggravated assault.
     9     * * *
    10     (d)  Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
    11  words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
    12  subsection:
    13     * * *
    14     "Public utility employee or an employee of an electric
    15  cooperative."  The term includes all of the following:
    16         (1)  An employee of a public utility.
    17         (2)  An employee of a municipally owned utility.

     1         (3)  An employee of a cable television company.
     2         (4)  An employee of an electric distribution company.
     3         (5)  An employee of an electric generation company.
     4         (6)  An independent contractor or an employee of an
     5     independent contractor working on behalf of a cable
     6     television company, a public utility, a municipally owned
     7     utility, an electric distribution company, an electric
     8     generation company or an electric cooperative.
     9         (7)  An employee of a telecommunications carrier.
    10         (8)  An independent contractor or an employee of an
    11     independent contractor working on behalf of a
    12     telecommunications carrier.
    13         (9)  An employee of a telephone or telecommunications
    14     cooperative.
    15         (10)  An independent contractor or an employee of an
    16     independent contractor working on behalf of a telephone or
    17     telecommunications cooperative.
    18  Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
