AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, providing for show car certification, registration
3 plates and inspection.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Chapter 35 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subchapter to read:

11 3585. Show car certification.
12 3586. Show car registration plates.
13 3587. Show car inspection.
14 § 3585. Show car certification.
15 In applying for registration of a show car, the owner of the
1 show car shall submit with the application a certification that
2 the vehicle for which the application is made:
3 (1) will be maintained for occasional transportation,
4 exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours and similar
5 uses;
6 (2) will be driven 5,000 miles or less each year; and
7 (3) will not be used for general daily transportation.
8 § 3586. Show car registration plates.
9 (a) General rule.--Upon submission by a vehicle owner of
10 information satisfactory to the department that the motor
11 vehicle is a show car, accompanied by the appropriate fee, the
12 department may issue special plates for the vehicle. The special
13 plates shall bear the designation "show car." The applicant
14 shall provide photographic proof in a manner specified by the
15 department to demonstrate the condition of the motor vehicle. No
16 annual registration fee may be charged for show cars. A holder
17 of the special plates may obtain replacement plates bearing the
18 designation "show car" upon payment of the appropriate fee.
19 (b) Use of plates.--It is unlawful for any person to operate
20 a motor vehicle with show car registration plates for general
21 daily transportation exceeding 5,000 miles annually. Permitted
22 use shall be limited to participation in club activities,
23 exhibits, tours, parades, occasional transportation and similar
24 uses.
25 § 3587. Show car inspection.
26 (a) Requirements.--In addition to the certification required
27 under section 3585 (relating to show car certification), when
28 applying for registration of a show car, the owner of the show
29 car shall provide proof to the department that the show car
30 passed an annual safety inspection that complies with the

2 Program. This inspection shall be done at a certified
3 Pennsylvania inspection station.
4 (b) Exemptions.--A vehicle registered under this subchapter
5 shall be exempt from statutes and regulations that require
6 periodic vehicle inspections, enhanced vehicle inspections and
7 inspections of emission controls.
8 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
