                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, providing for electric, natural gas
     3     and telecommunications service supplied to certain
     4     organizations.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 1511 of Title 66 of the Pennsylvania
     8  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     9  § 1511.  [Electricity] Electric, natural gas and
    10             telecommunications service supplied to certain
    11             organizations.
    12     (a)  Electric service.--Any public utility company supplying
    13  electric service shall, upon application, permit a volunteer
    14  fire company, a nonprofit rescue squad or ambulance service or a
    15  nonprofit senior citizen center to elect to have its electric
    16  service rendered pursuant to a rate schedule which provides


     1  equivalent charges for such service as residential rates upon
     2  execution of a contract for a minimum term of one year.
     3     (b)  Natural gas service.--Any natural gas supplier or
     4  natural gas distribution company supplying natural gas service
     5  shall, upon application, permit a volunteer fire company, a
     6  nonprofit rescue squad or ambulance service or a nonprofit
     7  senior citizen center to elect to have its natural gas supply
     8  service or natural gas distribution service rendered pursuant to
     9  a rate schedule which provides equivalent charges for the
    10  service as residential rates upon execution of a contract for a
    11  minimum term of one year.
    12     (c)  Telecommunications service.--Any telecommunications
    13  utility providing telecommunications service within a certified
    14  exchange area shall, upon application, permit a volunteer fire
    15  company or a nonprofit senior citizen center to elect to have
    16  its telecommunications service rendered pursuant to a rate
    17  schedule which provides equivalent charges for such
    18  telecommunications service as residential rates upon execution
    19  of a contract for a minimum of one year.
    20     (d)  Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
    21  words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
    22  subsection:
    23     "Natural gas distribution company."  The term shall have the
    24  meaning as defined in section 2202 (relating to definitions).
    25     "Natural gas distribution service."  The term shall have the
    26  meaning as defined in section 2202 (relating to definitions).
    27     "Natural gas supplier."  The term shall have the meaning as
    28  defined in section 2202 (relating to definitions).
    29     "Natural gas supply service."  The term shall have the
    30  meaning as defined in section 2202 (relating to definitions).

     1     "Telecommunications service."  The term shall have the
     2  meaning as defined in section 3012 (relating to definitions).
     3     "Telecommunications utility."  Any provider of
     4  telecommunications service.
     5     "Volunteer fire company."  The term shall have the meaning as
     6  defined in the act of July 15, 1976 (P.L.1036, No.208), known as
     7  the Volunteer Fire Company, Ambulance Service and Rescue Squad
     8  Assistance Act.
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
