AN ACT 1 Amending the act of January 10, 1968 (1967 P.L.925, No.417), 2 entitled "An act relating to officers and employes of the 3 General Assembly; fixing the number, qualifications, 4 compensation, mileage and duties of the officers and employes 5 of the Senate and of the House of Representatives; providing 6 for their election or appointment, term of office, or of 7 service, removal and manner of filling vacancies; fixing the 8 salary of the Director of the Legislative Reference Bureau; 9 providing for compilation of lists of employes," further 10 providing for rules and regulations of the Bi-partisan 11 Management Committee. 12 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 13 hereby enacts as follows: 14 Section 1. Section 21.2(a) of the act of January 10, 1968 15 (1967 P.L.925, No.417), referred to as the Legislative Officers 16 and Employes Law, is amended by adding a paragraph to read: 17 Section 21.2. (a) The Bi-partisan Management Committee is 18 authorized to prepare and adopt rules and regulations governing 19 the following matters: 20 * * * 21 (19) Administration of a medical benefits plan to provide 22 medical insurance for members and employes of the House of
1 Representatives. In administering this plan, the committee shall 2 be empowered to enter into agreements with health care insurance 3 providers for the provision of these benefits. The committee is 4 directed to ensure that adequate benefits are procured at 5 reasonable cost. The committee shall establish a procedure to 6 enable active members to contribute a portion of the cost of 7 their benefit package related to health care. The contribution 8 may be made by a payroll deduction or a direct payment. The 9 committee shall notify members not later than June 1 of the 10 fiscal year immediately preceding the effect of any changes made 11 to the medical benefits plan. 12 * * * 13 Section 2.
