                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 2, 1915 (P.L.736, No.338), entitled, as
     2     reenacted and amended, "An act defining the liability of an
     3     employer to pay damages for injuries received by an employe
     4     in the course of employment; establishing an elective
     5     schedule of compensation; providing procedure for the
     6     determination of liability and compensation thereunder; and
     7     prescribing penalties," providing for cost-of-living
     8     increases in the amount of compensation payable.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  The act of June 2, 1915 (P.L.736, No.338), known
    12  as the Workers' Compensation Act, reenacted and amended June 21,
    13  1939 (P.L.520, No.281), is amended by adding a section to read:
    14     Section 308.2.  Notwithstanding any other provision of this
    15  act, the amount of compensation payable to an employe, other
    16  than medical costs, and to the survivor of an employe shall be
    17  increased each year by the same percentage as the increase in
    18  the cost of living for the previously completed calendar year,
    19  as published by the United States Department of Labor. The

     1  increase in the amount of compensation payable shall take effect
     2  thirty days after publication of the percentage increase by the
     3  United States Department of Labor.
     4     Section 2.  The addition of section 308.2 of the act shall
     5  apply to compensation payable on or after January 1, 2007.
     6     Section 3.  This act shall be retroactive to January 1, 2007.
     7     Section 4.  This act shall take effect immediately.
