AN ACT 1 Amending Title 3 (Agriculture) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for food-related illnesses and threat to 3 food supply. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Title 3 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes 7 is amended by adding a section read: 8 § 5108.1. Food-related illnesses and threat to food supply. 9 (a) Testing and rapid response.--The department shall test 10 for food-related illnesses in both humans and animals along with 11 determining any threats to the food supply. The department shall 12 design a rapid response to any poison threat to the food supply. 13 (b) Information sharing.--The department shall share any 14 relevant testing information procured pursuant to subsection (a) 15 with the Department of Health, the Department of Environmental 16 Protection or any other agency that could provide the public a 17 benefit from the results of their testing.
1 Section 2. The sum of $100,000, or as much thereof as may be 2 necessary, is hereby appropriated from the General Fund to the 3 Department of Agriculture for enhanced testing of food, feed, 4 fertilizer, pesticides and pet food for the fiscal year July 1, 5 2007, to June 30, 2008, to carry out the provisions of this act. 6 Section 3.
