           COSTA, COX, DALEY, DeLUCA, FRANKEL, GIBBONS, GRUCELA,
           HENNESSEY, KENNEY, KOTIK, KULA, MICOZZIE, PALLONE, RAMALEY,
           READSHAW, SIPTROTH, SOLOBAY, STABACK, SURRA, J. TAYLOR,
           YOUNGBLOOD, WALKO, WHEATLEY, J. WHITE, DENLINGER AND MELIO,

        AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, IN SENATE, JULY 10, 2007

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for CONDITIONS OF PERMITS AND      <--
     3     SECURITY FOR DAMAGES; AND EXTENDING PROVISIONS REGARDING
     4     reports and removal of abandoned vehicles within the           <--
     5     boundaries of a city of the first class or TO CITIES OF THE    <--
     6     second class.; AND FURTHER PROVIDING FOR CONDITIONS OF         <--
     7     PERMITS AND SECURITY FOR DAMAGES.

     8     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     9  hereby enacts as follows:
    10     Section 1.  Section 7304.1 heading of Title 75 of the          <--
    11  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended and the section is
    12  amended by adding a subsection to read:
    13     SECTION 1.  SECTION 4962(F.2) OF TITLE 75 OF THE PENNSYLVANIA  <--
    14  CONSOLIDATED STATUTES IS AMENDED TO READ:
    15  § 4962.  CONDITIONS OF PERMITS AND SECURITY FOR DAMAGES.

    17     (F.2)  ONE PILOT CAR.--VEHICLES GREATER THAN 13 FEET BUT LESS
    18  THAN 14 FEET IN BODY WIDTH, EVEN IF THE TOTAL LENGTH OF THE

     1  VEHICLE OR COMBINATION, INCLUDING THE LOAD ON THE COMBINATION,
     2  EXCEEDS 90 FEET BUT IS NOT IN EXCESS OF 120 FEET, SHALL ONLY BE
     3  REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN ONE PILOT CAR. THE POSITION OF THE PILOT
     4  CAR TO THE FRONT OR REAR OF THE PERMITTED VEHICLE MAY BE
     5  DETERMINED BY THE DEPARTMENT.

     7     SECTION 2.  SECTION 7304.1 HEADING OF TITLE 75 IS AMENDED AND
     8  THE SECTION IS AMENDED BY ADDING A SUBSECTION TO READ:
     9  § 7304.1.  Reports and removal of abandoned vehicles within the
    10             boundaries of a city of the first class or second
    11             class.

    13     (c)  Applicability.--This section shall apply only to
    14  vehicles reported abandoned within the boundaries of a city of
    15  the first class or a city of the second class.
    16     Section 2 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.           <--
