AN ACT
1 Relating to PROVIDING FOR the donation of blood by certain <--
2 persons 16 years of age or older; AND MAKING A RELATED <--
3 REPEAL.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Donation of blood by certain minors.
7 A person who is 17 years of age or older may consent SHALL BE <--
8 ELIGIBLE to donate blood in a voluntary and noncompensatory
9 blood program without the permission of a parent or guardian.
10 The consent is not subject to later disaffirmance because of
11 minority. A person who is at least 16 years of age but less than
12 17 years of age may donate blood in a voluntary and
13 noncompensatory blood collection program if the person obtains
14 written permission from the person's parent or guardian.
15 SECTION 2. REPEAL. <--
16 (A) DECLARATION.--THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY DECLARES THAT THE
17 REPEAL UNDER SUBSECTION (B) IS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS ACT.
1 (B) ACTION.--THE ACT OF DECEMBER 9, 1969 (P.L.333, NO.141),
2 ENTITLED "AN ACT ENABLING CERTAIN MINORS' CONSENT TO DONATE
3 BLOOD," IS REPEALED.
4 Section 2 3. Effective date. <--
5 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
