A RESOLUTION 1 Declaring the week of January 29, 2006, as "Catholic Schools 2 Week" in this Commonwealth. 3 WHEREAS, Catholic schools in this Commonwealth are 4 celebrating "Catholic Schools Week" during the week of January 5 29, 2006; and 6 WHEREAS, The theme for this year is "Catholic Schools: 7 Character, Compassion, Values"; and 8 WHEREAS, Catholic elementary and secondary schools educate 9 approximately 183,628 students annually and save State and local 10 taxpayers more than $1 billion each year; and 11 WHEREAS, Catholic schools instill in young people a strong 12 foundation of values, self-esteem, self-confidence and 13 leadership skills; and 14 WHEREAS, Catholic schools, in providing young people a strong 15 foundation of values and academic skills needed in becoming 16 responsible citizens of this Commonwealth and nation, have a
1 drop-out rate of less than 3% and a postgraduate higher 2 education rate of 80%; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the Senate declare the week of January 29, 4 2006, as "Catholic Schools Week" in this Commonwealth and 5 express congratulations and appreciation to Catholic elementary 6 and secondary schools across this Commonwealth on the occasion 7 of "Catholic Schools Week" in 2006.
