        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, NOVEMBER 21, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Remembering Robert Montgomery Scott, on the occasion of his
     2     death on October 13, 2005, at 76 years of age, as "The
     3     Quintessential Philadelphian."

     4     WHEREAS, Robert Montgomery Scott passed away on October 13,
     5  2005; and
     6     WHEREAS, Mr. Scott was born May 22, 1929, the son of
     7  investment banker and heir to the Pennsylvania Railroad, Edgar
     8  Scott, and socialite Hope Montgomery Scott; and
     9     WHEREAS, After attending Harvard University and the
    10  University of Pennsylvania Law School, Mr. Scott joined the law
    11  firm Montgomery McCracken Walker and Rhoads; and
    12     WHEREAS, Mr. Scott went to Great Britain in 1969 to serve as
    13  special assistant to United States Ambassador Walter Annenberg;
    14  and
    15     WHEREAS, Mr. Scott left an indelible imprint on the cultural
    16  landscape of Philadelphia as president of the Academy of Music
    17  and later the Philadelphia Museum of Art; therefore be it
    18     RESOLVED, That the Senate remember Robert Montgomery Scott as

     1  "The Quintessential Philadelphian" and extend its condolences to
     2  the many family members, friends and admirers who mourn the loss
     3  of a man deeply committed to his family and the community; and
     4  be it further
     5     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
     6  the family of Robert Montgomery Scott.
