AN ACT
1 Amending the act of August 31, 1971 (P.L.398, No.96), entitled
2 "An act providing for the creation, maintenance and operation
3 of a county employes' retirement system, and imposing certain
4 charges on counties and providing penalties," authorizing a
5 benefit for health care costs incurred by retired employees
6 under certain circumstances.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 19 of the act of August 31, 1971
10 (P.L.398, No.96), known as the County Pension Law, is amended to
11 read:
12 Section 19. Additional Retirement Benefits.--In addition to
13 the retirement allowance, the board may grant to retired
14 employes insurance or other similar benefits that the county has
15 granted to other county employes. The board may, in its sole
16 discretion, grant a benefit for any or all covered health care
17 costs incurred by retired employes only if the fund is at least
18 one hundred per cent funded and actuarily sound as certified by
19 the board's actuary.
1 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
