SENATE BILL

        REFERRED TO STATE GOVERNMENT, FEBRUARY 7, 2005

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled
     2     "An act concerning elections, including general, municipal,
     3     special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates,
     4     primary and election expenses and election contests; creating
     5     and defining membership of county boards of elections;
     6     imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth,
     7     courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners;
     8     imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying,
     9     revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and
    10     repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to
    11     elections," providing for filing of campaign finance reports.

    12     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    13  hereby enacts as follows:
    14     Section 1.  Article IX of the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333,
    15  No.320), known as the Pennsylvania Election Code, is amended by
    16  adding a subdivision to read:
    17                        (f) Campaign Finance
    18     Section 999.5.  Reports.--Notwithstanding any other provision
    19  of this act or any other law, candidates shall only be required
    20  to file a campaign finance report with the Secretary of the
    21  Commonwealth.
    22     Section 2.  The addition of section 999.5 of the act shall

     1  apply to candidates for elections to the Pennsylvania General
     2  Assembly occurring on or after January 1, 2006.
     3     Section 3.  The provisions of 4 Pa. Code § 177.4(b) are
     4  abrogated to the extent that they conflict with the provisions
     5  of section 999.5 of the act.
     6     Section 4.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
