                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of April 17 through 21, 2006, as "Rural
     2     Road Safety Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Agriculture is Pennsylvania's number one industry;
     4  and
     5     WHEREAS, Agriculture is dependent on the movement of farm
     6  equipment on rural roads in this Commonwealth; and
     7     WHEREAS, Farm equipment travels at slower speeds than other
     8  traffic and is often wider than other vehicles; and
     9     WHEREAS, Many drivers are not aware of the possible presence
    10  of farm equipment on roads and the precautions that should be
    11  taken on roads occupied by farm equipment; and
    12     WHEREAS, The number of drivers on rural roads in this
    13  Commonwealth is increasing; and
    14     WHEREAS, It is the intent of the agricultural community to

     1  raise awareness of the use of farm equipment on roads; therefore
     2  be it
     3     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
     4  week of April 17 through 21, 2006, as "Rural Road Safety Week"
     5  in Pennsylvania.
