A RESOLUTION 1 Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme 2 sacrifice of Lance Corporal Patrick Brian Kenny, 2nd 3 Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, who 4 tragically lost his life on October 6, 2005, while in the 5 service of his country when his vehicle hit a homemade 6 roadside bomb in Karmah, Iraq. 7 WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Patrick Brian Kenny of the Borough of 8 Emsworth, Allegheny County, grew up in the county and attended 9 Sacred Heart Elementary School and Avonworth Elementary School. 10 He graduated from Avonworth High School in 2003, served as an
1 altar boy at his local parish, was a captain of the high school 2 football team and was one of the most respected and loved 3 students in the school; and 4 WHEREAS, Corporal Kenny enlisted as a member of the United 5 States Marine Corps in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and trained 6 at boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina; and 7 WHEREAS, Corporal Kenny's division was the ground combat 8 element of 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, whose backbone is the 9 individual Marine infantryman, like Corporal Kenny, and whose 10 basic mission is to locate, close with, attack and destroy or 11 capture the enemy, bringing Corporal Kenny to Fallujah on his 12 first tour and to the province of Al Anbar in a second tour; and 13 WHEREAS, Corporal Kenny was awarded a Combat Action Ribbon 14 for serving in Iraq, a National Defense Service Medal, an Iraqi 15 Campaign Medal, a Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, a 16 Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Sea Service Deployment 17 Medal and a Purple Heart Medal while serving his country in 18 Iraq; and 19 WHEREAS, Corporal Kenny inspired many of his friends and 20 teammates, including his younger sister, to join the Marines 21 through his hard work ethic and his dedication to his goals; and 22 WHEREAS, Corporal Kenny paid the supreme sacrifice to his 23 country on October 6, 2005, in Iraq; and 24 WHEREAS, Corporal Kenny is sorely missed by all those who 25 knew him for his sense of humor, dedication to the United States 26 and polite, respectful personality; therefore be it 27 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life 28 and extend condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Lance 29 Corporal Patrick Brian Kenny, who died on October 6, 2005, in 30 Iraq while in the courageous service of his country; and be it 20050H0510R3075 - 2 -
