                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of June 12 through 18, 2005, as
     2     "Psychologically Healthy Workplace Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, It is known that a psychologically healthy workplace
     4  benefits employers and employees; and
     5     WHEREAS, A psychologically healthy workplace benefits the
     6  employer through increased productivity and employee retention
     7  rates, improved morale and reduced health care costs, accidents
     8  and absenteeism; and
     9     WHEREAS, A psychologically healthy workplace benefits the
    10  employee through greater job satisfaction, personal enrichment
    11  and reduced work-related stress; and
    12     WHEREAS, As the current economic climate places businesses
    13  under great pressure to deliver more with fewer resources, it is


     1  especially important to recognize employers that continue to
     2  cultivate and nurture a higher-quality work environment; and
     3     WHEREAS, Employee well-being is enhanced by psychologically
     4  healthy workplaces that promote employee involvement, family
     5  support, secure environments and employee growth and development
     6  opportunities; and
     7     WHEREAS, Employers should be encouraged to create
     8  psychologically healthy workplaces for the well-being of their
     9  employees; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
    11  week of June 12 through 18, 2005, as "Psychologically Healthy
    12  Workplace Week" in Pennsylvania.
