        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 2, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating May 1 through 8, 2005, as "Cover the Uninsured Week"
     2     in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Forty-five million Americans, equal to the combined
     4  population of 24 states, do not have health care coverage; and
     5     WHEREAS, Eight out of ten people who are uninsured are in
     6  working families; and
     7     WHEREAS, There are more than 8 million children in America
     8  without health coverage; and
     9     WHEREAS, Uninsured Americans live sicker and die younger than
    10  those who are covered, and they suffer needlessly because they
    11  go without the health care they need; and
    12     WHEREAS, As the price of health care continues to rise, fewer
    13  individuals and families can afford to pay for coverage and
    14  fewer small businesses are able to provide coverage for their


     1  employees; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
     3  urgency of seeking solutions to today's health care problem, one
     4  of America's greatest problems, and designate May 1 through 8,
     5  2005, as "Cover the Uninsured Week" in Pennsylvania.
