INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 29, 2005
A RESOLUTION 1 Extending condolences on the passing of Otis. W. Littleton. 2 WHEREAS, On January 6, 2005, Otis W. Littleton passed away at 3 74 years of age; and 4 WHEREAS, Mr. Littleton served as a valued legislative 5 employee for 23 years, including many years of distinguished 6 service as Research Director for the Republican Caucus of the 7 House of Representatives, before retiring in 1990; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Littleton was widely respected for his 9 effectiveness as a Director of Research and for his 10 contributions to the shaping of many important laws relating to 11 insurance reform; and
1 WHEREAS, Mr. Littleton continued to make productive 2 contributions to his community after retirement, including a 3 longtime association with the United States Coast Guard 4 Auxiliary, where he employed his knowledge of boating to 5 teaching boating courses and performing vessel safety 6 inspections on a volunteer basis and where he served as the 7 Chief of the Coast Guard Auxiliary's Department of Marketing and 8 Public Affairs; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Littleton will always be remembered for his 10 intelligence and commitment to public service, his 11 accomplishments as a legislative research director, his valuable 12 contributions to his community, especially in areas relating to 13 boating safety, and for the warm memories he leaves behind with 14 his family, friends and former colleagues; therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives sadly mark the 16 passing of Otis W. Littleton and extend heartfelt condolences to 17 his wife, Marie (Giannone), his daughters, Dolores and Linda, 18 his son, Paul, his stepsons, Kenneth and Timothy, and his 19 brothers and sisters, Joan, Lowell, Jane, Alberta and James; and 20 be it further 21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to 22 his loving wife, Marie.
