        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 14, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the YMCA of York and York County for 150 years of
     2     service to the City and County of York.

     3     WHEREAS, The mission of the YMCA of York and York County is
     4  to put Christian principles such as faith, hope, love, honesty,
     5  respect and responsibility into practice through programs that
     6  build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all; and
     7     WHEREAS, The YMCA of York and York County was founded in 1855
     8  as a gathering place for young men who had moved from farms into
     9  the city to work in factories; and
    10     WHEREAS, They met at several locations before building the
    11  current Downtown York Branch at 90 North Newberry Street in
    12  1926; and


     1     WHEREAS, In 1985 the Dover Branch opened, in 1995 the
     2  Southern York County Branch in Shrewsbury opened and in 2000 the
     3  Eastern York County Branch opened; therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the YMCA of
     5  York and York County for 150 years of service to the City and
     6  County of York.
