                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
     3     bail, fines, costs and restitution.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1. Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes
     7  is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 5703.  Bail money applied to fines, costs and restitution.
     9     Upon conviction of a criminal offense, at sentencing the
    10  court may order any cash bail money posted by the defendant for
    11  that offense be applied to satisfy any court costs, fines or
    12  restitution imposed. However, a deposit of cash to satisfy a
    13  defendant's monetary bail condition that is made by a person
    14  acting as a surety for the defendant may not be retained to pay
    15  for the defendant's court costs, fines or restitution.
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
