AN ACT 1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An 2 act relating to the public school system, including certain 3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial 4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the 5 laws relating thereto," further providing for campus police 6 powers and duties. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Section 2019-A of the act of March 10, 1949 <-- 10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is 11 amended by adding a subsection to read: 12 Section 2019-A. Campus Police Powers and Duties.--* * * 13 (d) Campus police who have completed firearms training in 14 accordance with 53 Pa.C.S. § 2167(a) (relating to police 15 training) shall carry a firearm in the course of duty. 16 SECTION 1. SECTION 2009-A OF THE ACT OF MARCH 10, 1949 <-- 17 (P.L.30, NO.14), KNOWN AS THE PUBLIC SCHOOL CODE OF 1949, IS
1 AMENDED BY ADDING A PARAGRAPH TO READ: 2 SECTION 2009-A. POWERS AND DUTIES OF COUNCILS OF TRUSTEES.-- 3 IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RULES AND REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY THE 4 BOARD, THE COUNCIL OF EACH INSTITUTION SHALL HAVE THE POWER AND 5 ITS DUTY SHALL BE: 6 * * * 7 (13) BY RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL TO AUTHORIZE 8 CAMPUS POLICE WHO HAVE COMPLETED FIREARMS TRAINING IN ACCORDANCE 9 WITH 53 PA.C.S. § 2167(A) (RELATING TO POLICE TRAINING) TO CARRY 10 FIREARMS IN THE COURSE OF DUTY FOR ANY INSTITUTION WHOSE CAMPUS 11 POLICE ARE AUTHORIZED TO CARRY FIREARMS ON THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF 12 THIS PARAGRAPH, THE AUTHORITY TO CARRY FIREARMS SHALL REMAIN IN 13 EFFECT UNLESS THE COUNCIL BY RESOLUTION DISSOLVES SUCH 14 AUTHORITY. 15 Section 2.
