A RESOLUTION 1 Declaring the week of January 25 through January 31, 2004, as 2 "Catholic Schools Week" in this Commonwealth. 3 WHEREAS, Catholic schools in this Commonwealth are 4 celebrating "Catholic Schools Week" from January 25 through 5 January 31, 2004; and 6 WHEREAS, The theme for this year is "Catholic Schools: Making 7 a World of Difference"; and 8 WHEREAS, Catholic elementary and secondary schools educate 9 approximately 200,000 students annually and save State and local 10 taxpayers more than $1 billion each year; and 11 WHEREAS, Catholic schools instill in young people a strong 12 foundation of values, self-esteem, self-confidence and 13 leadership skills; and 14 WHEREAS, Catholic schools, in providing young people a strong 15 foundation of values and academic skills needed in becoming 16 responsible citizens of this Commonwealth and nation, have a
1 drop-out rate of less than 3% and a postgraduate higher 2 education rate of 80%; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the Senate declare the week of January 25 4 through January 31, 2004, as "Catholic Schools Week" in this 5 Commonwealth and express congratulations and appreciation to 6 Catholic elementary and secondary schools across this 7 Commonwealth on the occasion of "Catholic Schools Week" in 2004.
