SENATE BILL

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of May 8, 1919 (P.L.148, No.102), entitled "An
     2     act providing for the joint acquisition and maintenance by
     3     the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey
     4     of certain toll-bridges over the Delaware River," further
     5     providing for the joint commission.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 2 of the act of May 8, 1919 (P.L.148,
     9  No.102), entitled "An act providing for the joint acquisition
    10  and maintenance by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the
    11  State of New Jersey of certain toll-bridges over the Delaware
    12  River," amended July 1, 1996 (P.L.453, No.68), is amended to
    13  read:
    14     Section 2.  Five public members, none of whom shall serve
    15  concurrently in an elected Federal or State office, who shall be
    16  appointed by the Governor by and with the advice and consent of
    17  a majority of the members elected to the Senate are hereby
    18  constituted a commission to act in conjunction with a similar
    19  commission of the State of New Jersey, as a joint commission for

     1  the acquisition of the various toll-bridges over the Delaware
     2  River between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of
     3  New Jersey. The five members appointed by the Governor shall
     4  include one individual who utilizes the bridges under the
     5  commission's jurisdiction on a daily basis for purposes of
     6  traveling to and from his place of employment and one individual
     7  representing the interests of the Commonwealth's commercial
     8  trucking industry.
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
