           ORIE, LOGAN, WONDERLING, MUSTO, BOSCOLA, WOZNIAK AND WAUGH,

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for veteran plates and placard.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 1342(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     6  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     7  § 1342.  Veteran plates and placard.
     8     (a)  Severely disabled veteran plate.--On the application of
     9  a veteran whose service-connected disability is certified at
    10  [100%] 75% or greater by the service unit of the armed forces in
    11  which the veteran served or by the United States Veterans'
    12  Administration or who has a service-connected disability of the
    13  type enumerated in section 1338 (relating to person with
    14  disability plate and placard), the department shall issue a
    15  special registration plate designating the vehicle as belonging
    16  to a severely disabled veteran. The registration plate shall
    17  have a white background, shall have blue numbers or letters as

     1  the department may determine, shall have the words, ["]disabled
     2  veteran,["] in at least ten-point bold type, inscribed in red at
     3  the bottom of the plate[,] and shall include the international
     4  symbol for access for persons with disabilities. Only one
     5  special registration plate shall be issued to a veteran under
     6  this section. It may be used only on a passenger car or truck
     7  with a registered gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds. In
     8  the case of a motorcycle, the department shall issue a decal
     9  containing the international symbol for access for persons with
    10  disabilities and the words "disabled veteran" for display on the
    11  registration plate.
