A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1 Designating October 26, 2004, as "Little Sisters of the Poor 2 Day." 3 WHEREAS, The Little Sisters of the Poor were founded by 4 Blessed Foundress Jeanne Jugan in 1839 in Brittany, France; and 5 WHEREAS, The Little Sisters of the Poor established a mission 6 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1872; and 7 WHEREAS, For over a century and a half, the Little Sisters of 8 the Poor have been dedicated to serving the elderly poor 9 throughout the world and in this Commonwealth; and 10 WHEREAS, The Little Sisters of the Poor provide spiritual 11 nurturing and physical assistance to their charges; and 12 WHEREAS, The Little Sisters of the Poor sustain a sense of 13 dignity, human and personal respect and security for individuals 14 of every race, religion and ethnic group in the face of 15 advancing age; and 16 WHEREAS, On October 26, 2004, Southwestern Pennsylvania will 17 be honoring the Little Sisters of the Poor; therefore be it
1 RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly 2 designate October 26, 2004, as "Little Sisters of the Poor Day"; 3 and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That, upon passage, the Clerk of the House of 5 Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the Little 6 Sisters of the Poor.
