A RESOLUTION
1 Observing April 16 through 18, 2004, as "Youth Service Days" in
2 Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, "Youth Service Day" is the largest service event in
4 the world and engages millions of young people in volunteer
5 service; and
6 WHEREAS, Young people in more than 150 countries are taking
7 part in "Youth Service Day"; and
8 WHEREAS, A recent study conducted by Independent Sector and
9 Youth Service America has determined that volunteer service by
10 high school students has reached the highest level of the past
11 50 years; and
12 WHEREAS, Today's youth should be commended for this show of
13 altruism; therefore be it
14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the people
15 of this Commonwealth to join in observing April 16 through 18,
16 2004, as "Youth Service Days" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend today's
2 youth for a notable record of volunteer service in this
3 Commonwealth.
