A RESOLUTION 1 Designating December 5, 2003, as "Safe80 Day" in Pennsylvania. 2 WHEREAS, The Safe80 Task Force was formed in January 2001 to 3 make Interstate 80 in Monroe County safer; and 4 WHEREAS, The Safe80 Task Force includes citizens, local 5 officials and representatives of the Pennsylvania State Police, 6 the Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Public 7 Utilities Commission; and 8 WHEREAS, The Safe80 Task Force has promoted a strategy of 9 education, enforcement and engineering to make Interstate 80 10 safer; and 11 WHEREAS, The Safe80 Task Force received the 2002 Governor's 12 Highway Safety Award; and 13 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Police have received a
1 Governor's Highway Safety Award for their enforcement records on 2 Interstate 80; and 3 WHEREAS, The Safe80 Task Force continues to focus on short- 4 term, intermediate-term and long-term solutions to highway 5 safety issues and has secured funds for a $4 million grant to 6 study Interstate 80 in Monroe County, including the exit and 7 entrance ramps; therefore be it 8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives applaud the 9 efforts of the Safe80 Task Force and designate December 5, 2003, 10 as "Safe80 Day" in Pennsylvania.
