A RESOLUTION 1 Directing the Joint State Government Commission to conduct a 2 study of the laws of other states which regulate the ratio of 3 certified school nurses to students. 4 WHEREAS, The critical link between optimal health and school 5 achievement is widely recognized; and 6 WHEREAS, Certified school nurses provide support in 7 accordance with current medical practice and nursing standards 8 as well as relevant statutes and regulations; and 9 WHEREAS, Certified school nurses are professional members of 10 educational teams and valued community resources for students, 11 staff and families; therefore be it 12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the Joint 13 State Government Commission to conduct a study on how other 14 states' laws provide for certified school nursing services 15 within a school environment, to include, but not be limited to, 16 the ratio of special needs students to nursing services, state
1 educational requirements for employment as a certified school 2 nurse in respective states and the ratio of regular education 3 students to nursing services; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That the Joint State Government Commission report 5 its findings to the Majority Leader and Minority Leader of the 6 House of Representatives within six months of the adoption of 7 this resolution.
