AN ACT
1 Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for waiting period
3 after application for marriage license.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 1303 of Title 23 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
8 § 1303. Waiting period after application.
9 (a) General rule.--No marriage license shall be issued prior
10 to the third day following the making of application therefor.
11 (b) [Exception.--In case of emergency or extraordinary
12 circumstances, the] Exceptions.--The court may authorize a
13 license to be issued at any time after the making of the
14 application[.] in the following cases:
15 (1) In case of emergency or extraordinary circumstances.
16 (2) If an applicant is a member of the Pennsylvania
17 National Guard or other reserve component of the armed forces
18 of the United States and is called or ordered to active duty
1 with the armed forces of the United States., other than <--
2 active duty for training or State active duty under 51
3 Pa.C.S. (relating to military affairs).
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
