                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further defining "soldier."

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 7101 of Title 51 of the Pennsylvania
     6  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     7  § 7101.  Soldier defined.
     8     As used in this chapter, "soldier" means a person who served
     9  in the armed forces of the United States, or in any women's
    10  organization officially connected therewith, during any war or
    11  armed conflict in which the United States engaged, or who so
    12  served or hereafter serves in the armed forces of the United
    13  States, or in any women's organization officially connected
    14  therewith, since July 27, 1953, including service in Vietnam,

     1  and who has an honorable discharge from such service. The term
     2  includes those who served honorably in an active duty status for
     3  a period of not less than six months regardless of fulfillment
     4  of their initial contractual enlistment.
     5     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
