AN ACT 1 Amending the act of May 26, 1988 (P.L.448, No.73), entitled "An 2 act requiring institutions of higher education to provide 3 students and employees with information relating to crime 4 statistics and security measures and to provide similar 5 information to prospective students and employees upon 6 request; granting powers to the State Board of Education; and 7 providing for penalties," further providing for crime 8 statistics and security policies and procedures. 9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 10 hereby enacts as follows: 11 Section 1. Section 3(b) of the act of May 26, 1988 (P.L.448, 12 No.73), known as the College and University Security Information 13 Act, is amended to read: 14 Section 3. Crime statistics and security policies and 15 procedures. 16 * * * 17 (b) Publishing and distributing reports.--Each institution 18 of higher education shall publish and distribute a report which 19 shall be updated annually and which shall include the crime
1 statistics as reported under [subsection (a)] subsections (a) 2 and (b.2) for the most recent three-year period. Crime rates 3 shall also be included in the report. The crime rates reported 4 shall be based on the numbers and categories of crimes reported 5 under [subsection (a)] subsections (a) and (b.2) and the number 6 of full-time equivalent undergraduate and graduate students 7 (FTES) and full-time equivalent employees at the institution of 8 higher education. Upon request, the institution shall provide 9 the report to every person who submits an application for 10 admission to either a main or branch campus and to each new 11 employee at the time of employment. In its acknowledgment of 12 receipt of the formal application of admission, the institution 13 shall notify the applicant of the availability of such 14 information. The information shall also be provided on an annual 15 basis to all students and employees. Institutions with more than 16 one campus shall provide the required information on a campus- 17 by-campus basis. 18 * * * 19 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
