           PAYNE, SCAVELLO, SCHRODER AND TIGUE, JUNE 23, 2003

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," further providing for reimbursement
     6     definitions.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 2501 of the act of March 10, 1949
    10  (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
    11  amended by adding definitions to read:
    12     Section 2501.  Definitions.--For the purposes of this article
    13  the following terms shall have the following meanings:

    15     (24)  "Payment on account of instruction - per pupil."  The
    16  quotient, determined by the Department of Education each school
    17  year, by dividing:
    18     (i)  the total of a school district's payments on account of
    19  instruction under section 2502; by


     1     (ii)  the weighted average daily membership of the school
     2  district.
     3     (25)  "Payment on account of courses for exceptional children
     4  - per pupil."  The quotient, determined by the Department of
     5  Education each school year, by dividing:
     6     (i)  the total of a school district's payments on account of
     7  courses for exceptional children under section 2509; by
     8     (ii)  the weighted average daily membership of the school
     9  district.
    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
