AN ACT
1 Designating political subdivisions as rural areas for purposes
2 of Medicare hospital service payments.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Short title.
6 This act shall be known and may be cited as the Medicare
7 Hospital Service Payment Designation Act.
8 Section 2. Designation.
9 For purposes of payments to hospitals for inpatient hospital
10 services under section 1886 of the Social Security Act (49 Stat.
11 620, 42 U.S.C. § 1395ww), the political subdivisions of Coaldale <--
12 Borough and Butler Township in Schuylkill County are designated,
13 HOSPITALS DESIGNATED AS MEDICARE DEPENDENT HOSPITALS AS OF <--
14 SEPTEMBER 30, 2000, ARE HEREBY DESIGNATED AS RURAL HOSPITALS,
15 pursuant to section 1886(d)(8)(E)(ii)(II) of the Social Security
16 Act (42 U.S.C. § 1395ww(d)(8)(E)(ii)(II)), as rural areas. <--
17 SECTION 3. IF THIS ACT IS ENACTED AFTER JUNE 30, 2003, THIS <--
18 ACT SHALL APPLY RETROACTIVELY TO JUNE 30, 2003.
