                                     AN ACT

     1  Providing for forfeiture of office by elected public officials.

     2     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     3  hereby enacts as follows:
     4  Section 1.  Short title.
     5     This act shall be known and may be cited as the Forfeiture of
     6  Office Act.
     7  Section 2.  Definitions.
     8     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
     9  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
    10  context clearly indicates otherwise:
    11     "Public official."  Any person who is required to file an
    12  annual statement of financial interests with the State Ethics
    13  Commission as a public official of the Commonwealth in
    14  accordance with the act of October 4, 1978 (P.L.883, No.170),
    15  referred to as the Public Official and Employee Ethics Law.
    16  Section 3.  Forfeiture.
    17     If an elected public official accepts immunity from a

     1  prosecutor to testify against another person regarding any
     2  criminal activity involving both the elected public official and
     3  the other person, the elected public official shall forfeit his
     4  office.
     5  Section 4.  Effective date.
     6     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
