A RESOLUTION 1 Urging the President and Congress of the United States to 2 require that in using Federal funds for the reconstruction of 3 the buildings damaged in the terrorist attacks against the 4 United States on September 11, 2001, only products, 5 especially steel, made in the United States be used. 6 WHEREAS, On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked and 7 destroyed four civilian aircraft, crashing two of them into the 8 towers of the World Trade Center in New York City and a third 9 into the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C.; and 10 WHEREAS, The fourth aircraft crashed without any survivors in 11 Somerset County, Pennsylvania; and 12 WHEREAS, The President and Congress of the United States have 13 appropriated billions of dollars of emergency aid for emergency 14 activities and for the victims of the attacks; and 15 WHEREAS, Some of the emergency aid may be used to reconstruct 16 the buildings damaged in the attacks; and 17 WHEREAS, The reconstruction efforts using Federal moneys 18 should require that the products, especially steel, be made in 19 the United States; therefore be it
1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 2 urge the President and Congress of the United States to require 3 that in using Federal funds for the reconstruction of the 4 buildings damaged in the terrorist attacks against the United 5 States on September 11, 2001, only products, especially steel, 6 made in the United States be used; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to 8 the President of the United States, presiding officers of each 9 house of Congress and to each member of Congress from 10 Pennsylvania.
