A RESOLUTION 1 Commending Johnny Sample on his accomplishments. 2 WHEREAS, Johnny Sample, who played with the Baltimore Colts 3 and the New York Jets, was the first African-American co-captain 4 of a professional football team and is the only person to play 5 on an American Football League championship team, a National 6 Football League championship team and a Super Bowl championship 7 team; and 8 WHEREAS, He is a graduate of Maryland State College and a 9 member of that school's football hall of fame; and 10 WHEREAS, His book, "Confession of a Dirty Football Player," 11 spent six weeks on the New York Times bestseller list; and 12 WHEREAS, Currently he is ranked first in the United States 13 Tennis Association 45-and-over category, and has served as chair 14 umpire, linesman and referee for more than 25 years; and
1 WHEREAS, He can be seen and heard as a television and radio 2 analyst for the Philadelphia Eagles football team; and 3 WHEREAS, The Johnny Sample Sports Camp, Incorporated, a 4 tennis corporation he owns and operates, teaches inner-city 5 children tennis and life skills during the summer months; 6 therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend Johnny 8 Sample on his multitude of accomplishments and the valuable 9 service his organization provides to inner-city children.
