        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 14, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating April 26, 2001, as "Take Our Daughters to Work Day"
     2     in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, "Take Our Daughters to Work Day" is part of the Ms.
     4  Foundation for Women's public education campaign that helps keep
     5  girls healthy, confident and resilient during adolescence; and
     6     WHEREAS, "Take Our Daughters to Work Day," now in its eighth
     7  year, provides opportunities for businesses, educators,
     8  community-based organizations and government officials to make
     9  girls visible, valued and heard; and
    10     WHEREAS, Last year, millions of girls across the country and
    11  around the world went to workplaces with caring adult mentors


     1  who paid attention to the girls' ideas and future plans and
     2  showed them all the different life options that are available to
     3  women; and
     4     WHEREAS, "Take Our Daughters to Work Day" has provided many
     5  government officials and employees with the opportunity to
     6  better understand the challenges today's young women face
     7  economically, socially and physically; therefore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
     9  26, 2001, as "Take Our Daughters to Work Day" in Pennsylvania.
