                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," providing for tax effort poverty
     6     supplements.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
    10  as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
    11  section to read:
    12     Section 2502.39.  Tax Effort Poverty Supplement.--Beginning
    13  with the 2001-2002 school year, a school district whose local
    14  tax effort equals or exceeds twenty-one and one-tenth mills
    15  (21.1) and whose percentage of average daily membership receives
    16  free or reduced lunches under section 1337(d) shall receive a
    17  supplemental payment equal to one thousand dollars ($1,000) for


     1  each of its average daily membership.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
