                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 30 (Fish) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for the disposition of the
     3     proceeds from the special Lake Erie fishing permits.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 2907.2(f) of Title 30 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 2907.2.  Lake Erie fishing permits.

    10     (f)  Proceeds from special permit.--The proceeds from the
    11  special permits issued under this section shall be deposited
    12  into a restricted account within the Fish Fund, which account
    13  shall be used for paying recompense to holders of gill net
    14  licenses for boundary lakes as provided in section 2903(h)
    15  (relating to gill nets) and for the costs of administering the
    16  recompense and special permit programs. The holders of gill net

     1  licenses shall have until March 31, 2002, and no later to accept
     2  the recompense payment calculated as provided in section
     3  2903(h). The balance in the restricted account on June 30, 2002,
     4  shall be transferred to the Fish Fund and used to support
     5  programs that benefit the Lake Erie fisheries by acquisition of
     6  a new fisheries research vessel for Lake Erie.

     8     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
