                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled
     2     "An act concerning elections, including general, municipal,
     3     special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates,
     4     primary and election expenses and election contests; creating
     5     and defining membership of county boards of elections;
     6     imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth,
     7     courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners;
     8     imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying,
     9     revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and
    10     repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to
    11     elections," further providing for manner of signing
    12     nominating petitions.

    13     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    14  hereby enacts as follows:
    15     Section 1.  Section 908 of the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333,
    16  No.320), known as the Pennsylvania Election Code, amended August
    17  13, 1963 (P.L.707, No.379), is amended to read:
    18     Section 908.  Manner of Signing Nomination Petitions; Time of
    19  Circulating.--Each signer of a nomination petition shall sign
    20  but one such petition for each office to be filled, and shall
    21  declare therein that he is a registered and enrolled member of


     1  the party designated in such petition: Provided, however, That
     2  where there are to be elected two or more persons to the same
     3  office, each signer may sign petitions for as many candidates
     4  for such office as, and no more than, he could vote for at the
     5  succeeding election. He shall also declare therein that he is a
     6  qualified elector of the county therein named, and in case the
     7  nomination is not to be made or candidates are not to be elected
     8  by the electors of the State at large, of the political district
     9  therein named, in which the nomination is to be made or the
    10  election is to be held. He shall add his [occupation and]
    11  residence, giving city, borough or township, with street and
    12  number, if any, and shall print and sign his name and add the
    13  date of signing, expressed in words or numbers: Provided,
    14  however, That if the said political district named in the
    15  petition lies wholly within any city, borough or township, or is
    16  coextensive with same, it shall not be necessary for any signer
    17  of a nomination petition to state therein the city, borough or
    18  township of his residence. No nomination petition shall be
    19  circulated prior to the thirteenth Tuesday before the primary,
    20  and no signature shall be counted unless it bears a date affixed
    21  not earlier than the thirteenth Tuesday nor later than the tenth
    22  Tuesday prior to the primary.
    23     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
