                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," further providing for health
     6     recommendations.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 1406 of the act of March 10, 1949
    10  (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, added
    11  July 15, 1957 (P.L.937, No.404), is amended to read:
    12     Section 1406.  Recommendations.--Recommendations as to
    13  medical, surgical or dental care and as to the existence of and
    14  eligibility for the program under Article XXIII of the act of
    15  May 17, 1921 (P.L.682, No.284), known as "The Insurance Company
    16  Law of 1921," shall be sent to each parent or guardian and to

     1  the family physician or family dentist on forms prepared or
     2  approved by the Secretary of Health with instructions to the
     3  parent or guardian to consult the family physician or family
     4  dentist and to notify the school authorities of the action taken
     5  with respect to the recommendations.
     6     School physicians or school nurses shall inform teachers of
     7  the health conditions of pupils which may affect behavior,
     8  appearance or scholastic performance.
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
