        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, MARCH 14, 2000

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing "Million Mom March Mothers' Day 2000" on May 14,
     2     2000.

     3     WHEREAS, The Million Mom March in Washington, D.C., on May
     4  14, 2000, is a nationwide initiative highlighting issues of
     5  widespread gun violence, urging appropriate Federal gun control
     6  legislation and increasing awareness of the life-threatening
     7  danger firearms pose for our children and fellow citizens; and
     8     WHEREAS, Event sponsors are enlisting the support of
     9  citizens, community law enforcement agencies, corporations and
    10  congressional members in their campaign to stop the
    11  proliferation of firearms and ensure the safety of our children
    12  and future generations through education and legislation
    13  addressing the licensing of handgun owners, registration and
    14  safety standards for all handguns, purchase limits and effective
    15  law enforcement; therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize "Million Mom March
    17  Mothers' Day 2000" on May 14, 2000.
