SENATE BILL

No. 1375 Session of 2000


        INTRODUCED BY TILGHMAN, CONTI AND GERLACH, MARCH 17, 2000

        REFERRED TO APPROPRIATIONS, MARCH 17, 2000

                                     AN ACT

     1  Making appropriations to the Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, for
     2     operation and maintenance expenses and for research.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  (a)  The sum of $237,000 is hereby appropriated
     6  to the Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, for the fiscal year July
     7  1, 2000, to June 30, 2001, for the operation and maintenance of
     8  the institute.
     9     (b)  The sum of $102,000 is hereby appropriated to the Wistar
    10  Institute-Research, Philadelphia, for the fiscal year July 1,
    11  2000, to June 30, 2001, for research on acquired immune
    12  deficiency syndrome.
    13     (c)  Payments on account of the appropriations in this
    14  section shall be made by the Secretary of Health in equal
    15  quarterly payments.
    16     Section 2.  The Wistar Institute shall provide full, complete
    17  and accurate information as may be required by the Department of


     1  Health or the chairman or the minority chairman of the
     2  Appropriations Committee of the Senate or the chairman or the
     3  minority chairman of the Appropriations Committee of the House
     4  of Representatives.
     5     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000, or
     6  immediately, whichever is later.
