AN ACT
1 Making appropriations to the Department of Education for
2 alternative education programs and safe school programs.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Appropriations.
6 (a) Alternative education program.--The sum of $10,400,000,
7 or as much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated
8 to the Department of Education for the fiscal year July 1, 1999,
9 to June 30, 2000, for the purpose of making grants to school
10 districts to increase the access of school districts and
11 students to alternative education programs.
12 (b) Safe school programs.--The sum of 2,000,000 $4,000,000, <--
13 or as much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated
14 to the Department of Education for the fiscal year July 1, 1999,
15 to June 30, 2000, for payments to school districts for the
16 implementation of safe school programs within the school
1 districts.
2 Section 2. Effective date.
3 This act shall take effect immediately.
