AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, mandating driver's education in public schools; and
3 further providing for driver's license and learner's permit
4 fees.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
9 § 1531.1. Mandatory driver's education in public schools.
10 Each public school in this Commonwealth shall provide a
11 driver's education program to students in accordance with
12 guidelines promulgated by the department. The department shall
13 provide funding for public schools in order for them to comply
14 with this section.
15 Section 2. Section 1951 of Title 75 is amended to read:
16 § 1951. Driver's license and learner's permit.
17 (a) Driver's license.--The annual fee for a driver's license
18 shall be $5 plus the cost of the photograph required in section
1 1510(a) (relating to issuance and content of driver's license).
2 (b) Learner's permit.--The fee for a learner's permit shall
3 be [$5] $50.
4 (c) Identification card.--The fee for an identification card
5 shall be $5 plus the cost of the photograph.
6 (d) Replacement license or card.--The fee for a replacement
7 driver's license or identification card shall be $5 plus the
8 cost of the photograph.
9 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
